Sunday was a sunny day in Tokyo, which was good for a lot of local festivals that were being held around my neighbourhood. In nearby Nakameguro, I came across a small festival based around a jinja (Shinto shrine) called Kitano Jinja.

When I was in Tokyo two weeks ago for Kana’s wedding, I came across some festival activity for the Kanda Matsuri. The Kanda Myojin (big shrine) was just a few doors down the street from my hotel, and I emerged onto the street on a Sunday morning to find lots of mikoshi (portable shrines) being carried from small local jinja (shrines) to Kanda Myojin. It was very colourful!
