Guerrilla downpours & a rainbow

I emerged from Meguro Station this evening on my way to my weekly language class, to find a wall of people standing on the corner pointing their mobile phone cameras in my direction.  Not so vain to think that they were aiming their cameras at me, I thought that there might be something behind me that was catching their interest.  What could they all be photographing?

Today was another humid day, and there were some summer storms that came though Tokyo, and even stronger storms in other areas, apparently causing some damage (although I haven’t had time to watch the news bulletins properly yet, so don’t know the full extent of it).  Last year, some unforecast summer storms created massive downpours, and appeared as suddenly as if they were surprise attacks – so the term “guerrilla downpour” (ゲリラ豪雨 gerira gouu) was coined.
