At home with the flu

I should have known that writing a post comparing surgical masks would have been a prophetic prediction of things to come – I’m currently at home with the flu.  I even finished it off with “Watch out office, here I come on Monday”.  I should have said Tuesday, as I was only one day out…

This time, it’s for real.  With a high temperature, I was sent off to the doctor yesterday, and emerged with an arm-full of pills, a face mask that I’ve been told to wear in public (note: Model #2 based on my reviews), and orders to stay home for a few days.

This time it's for real

With a day at home, I’ve had a chance to do some behind the scenes work on this site.  Behind the scenes, this site has been upgraded to run on a php5 server.  That’s the boring bit, but it means that a few applications now work on it – including the revival of my favourite photo plug-in application, Fotobook.  Yes, with php5, Fotobook has come back to life, letting me import my Facebook photo galleries straight into here.  I’ve now introduced a photo albums page.

I’ve also introduced a new theme, because the old one was giving me funny results with the display of some posts on the screen.

I’ve survived day #1 of sick leave, but I foresee being quite bored by the end of another day at home…

  1. David,

You were prophetic weren’t you. Mask reviews one day, then flu the next.

One wonders what might have happened if you had of trialled each of the various masks you reviewed for an entire day each, whether you might have even prevented youself from catching your current bug?

By the way the new look for the site is great. Obviously daytime TV isn’t that good in Japan, because you don’t appear to be idle at home with these new changes and behind the scenes research.

    Get well soon.
