About mechakucha

“Mechakucha” (めちゃくちゃ) is a Japanese word that sort of means “nonsense” or “jumbled”, and that’s exactly how this website started.

Mechakucha.info started out as a quirky blog about my life as an expat living in Tokyo between 2008 and 2010.  My expat days are over, but I still visit Japan from time to time, so new Japan material will appear every now and then.

Mechakucha.info also contains stories of some hiking/bushwalking/tramping trips, whether in Japan, Australia or elsewhere.

Some of my other adventures have found other homes on the web:

  • Tuvalu Odyssey is a photographic travelogue of my journey to tiny Tuvalu in the Pacific Ocean in 2010
  • Micronesian Odyssey 99 is my first website – still struggling along – about my then very adventurous visit in 1999 to four Micronesian islands: Nauru, Pohnpei, Guam and Rota
  • Micro-Odysseys contains  galleries of some of my favourite photos of visits to other far-flung places on other travels

If you want to contact me, here’s a way to do it:
